Dead in the Water by Chris Lynch
Dead in the Water, by Chris Lynch; is about a U.S. Navy sailor during World War Two on the USS Yorktown.
As an airedale on the Yorktown, Hank McCallum is a key part in the United States naval campaign in the pacific, refueling and supplying planes quickly and effectively. After leaving his family behind and departing from his brother for one of the few times ever, he has to make it back home to his family. He has a baseball team made up of men from the Yorktown, and he enjoys doing a routine from back home. But when his aircraft carrier is sunk during the Battle of Midway, it leaves the reader in suspense to read the next book in the 3 book series: Alive and Kicking, about Hank's brother, Theo.
The first book isn't shown because it is in the Vietnam War era. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars, because it is well written and will always be a Scholastic classic. I would suggest this book to those who love suspense and a slight bit of heartbreak.
